As the name indicates Allium Globemaster has a huge purple flower which can reach up to 15 inches in diameter. A real giant which likes the company of ornamental grasses, Lavatera and Echinacea.

Should be positioned where other plants will help to hide their often untidy foliage. Many flowered. Stem slightly ribbed. Flowers 15cm wide. Spherical shape.

Features of Species or Group:

  Comes from Iran and the mighty mountains of the Himalayas. It is one of the largest and most impressive of all the alliums. This is a very pretty cut flower. Even after the flower petals have withered, the flower globe can be used in dried bouquets.

Features of Genus:

  Alliums come in all sizes, some alliums will reach up to 4 feet (120 cm) and stand tall with singular beauty. Typically, they produce rounded heads of flowers, often in rosy purple shades, but there are also yellow and white-flowered species. Some of them are small-growing and suitable for the rock garden, while others make excellent plants for the middle or back of borders. Many alliums make excellent cut flowers. They are usually long lasting in water. There are a large number of allium species, including edible onions, garlic and chives as well as many ornamental plants.

How to Plant Allium Bulbs?

 

To plant Allium Bulbs the bulbs should be planted with the nose of the bulb upward (or the roots facing downwards) and the Allium Globemaster- Giant Alliums should be planted roughly 5" deep and 8" apart from one another.

Note: For some bulbs you may not be able to tell which way is up or down, in these cases just plant them on their side and they will adjust on their own.

When to Plant Allium Globemaster- Giant Alliums?

  Allium Bulbs are normally planted Mid Fall, and most Allium Globemaster- Giant Alliums will begin to flower sometime in Mid Spring.
