Anemone coronaria is probably better known as a charming cut flower than as a bulb, but it definitely deserves a place in the garden. Just choose a warm and dry spot and the bulbs will already reward you with flowers in 6 to 10 weeks after they have been planted. Before planting they should be soaked in water to help them start growing.

Features of Species or Group:

Anemone coronaria is available in a lovely range of clear colours including red, white, blue, violet, cerise and pink, all with a black to deep navy blue centre.

Features of Genus:

Anemones, also known as windflowers, form a large and versatile group of plants. The flowers are often very colourful, and can be daisy-like with lots of petals, or cup-shaped, rather like poppies. Anemones flower in spring; the anemone coronaria will also flower in summer, depending on the planting time. They are excellent for cutting.

How to Plant Anemone Bulbs?

To plant Anemone Bulbs the bulbs should be planted with the nose of the bulb upward (or the roots facing downwards) and the Sylphide Anemone should be planted roughly 2" deep and 2" apart from one another.

Note: For some bulbs you may not be able to tell which way is up or down, in these cases just plant them on their side and they will adjust on their own.

When to Plant Sylphide Anemone?

Anemone Bulbs are normally planted Late Fall, and most Sylphide Anemone will begin to flower sometime in Mid Spring.
