Features of Species or Group:

The characteristics of Narcissus Bulbocodium is quite evident, it mostly has one flower to a stem. This variety is flowering in autumn to spring and has narrow leaves. Native to Spain, Portugal, and southwestern France and first introduced in 1629. It was found growing in scrub and rocky ground. The petticoats vary from globular, with narrow hoop, to very wide open and flaring, almost like a trumpet. The flowering time is March-April with color of pale to deep orange-yellow.

Features of Genus:

Daffodils are probably the best known and most widely grown of all bulbs and to many they are the true indicator of spring. They look wonderful mass planted in the garden or naturalized in grass, but they also make great pot plants and excellent cut flowers. The best known colour is yellow, but there are also flowers in shades of white, cream, orange and pink. The trumpet is often a different colour to the petals and may be bicoloured. There are many species and cultivars and the genus Narcissus has been divided into 12 groups, depending on the shape and size of the flowers.
