The "Grape Hyacinth" is a Muscari plant native to Eurasia that produces spikes of blue flowers, resembling bunches of grapes. They are early to bloom in the spring, and can be planted in both flower beds as well as in lawns. These bulbs tend to multiply quickly when planted in good soil.

Special Features

Planted at the bases of shrubs, or left to naturalize under trees, Grape Hyacinths have a stunning effect. They make good companions to Daffodils, Tulips, alyssum, and just about any other spring bulb, adding a beautiful shade of blue that is hard to come by at that time of year. They will tolerate most soils, except areas that don't drain well.

Features of Species or Group:

Grape Hyacinths are small plants, usually not much more than 8 inches tall, and produce blue or purple petals that are fused together and have small white tips, giving them a grape-like appearance. One grape hyacinth plant doesn't look like much, but in a mass planting, these small bulbs can be a sight to behold.

Features of Genus:

Grape Hyacinths, otherwise known as Muscari, are actually not Hyacinths at all. They are members of the Lily family, and are native to the Mediterranean area and Asia Minor.

How to Plant Value Packs?

To plant Value Packs the bulbs should be planted with the nose of the bulb upward (or the roots facing downwards) and the Muscari Armeniacum Grape Hyacinth should be planted roughly 4" deep and 4" apart from one another.

Note: For some bulbs you may not be able to tell which way is up or down, in these cases just plant them on their side and they will adjust on their own.

When to Plant Muscari Armeniacum Grape Hyacinth?

Value Packs are normally planted Mid Fall, and most Muscari Armeniacum Grape Hyacinth will begin to flower sometime in Mid Spring.
