Gladiolus, or sword lilies, are sure to be the high point of your summer garden. These attractive plants grow up to 60"H and produce large flowers. Gladiolus look beautiful when they are planted in groups of 5 or more, or when incorporated into a cut flower bed. These easy to grow plants require full sun and well drained soil.

Cutting: Cut the flower spikes when the second flower on the spike is opening. Try cutting the spike without removing the leaves.


Features of Genus:

  This eye-catching flower is native to South Africa and blooms in nearly every color. The flower blooms from bottom to top, filling the entire stalk with its extravagant flowers. They are simple to grow and very rewarding. The gladiolus has sword-shaped leaves giving it the nickname 'sword-lily'.

How to Plant Gladiolus Bulbs?

 

To plant Gladiolus Bulbs the bulbs should be planted with the nose of the bulb upward (or the roots facing downwards) and the Fidelio Gladiolus should be planted roughly 5" deep and 5" apart from one another.

Note: For some bulbs you may not be able to tell which way is up or down, in these cases just plant them on their side and they will adjust on their own.

When to Plant Fidelio Gladiolus?

  Gladiolus Bulbs are normally planted Mid Spring, and most Fidelio Gladiolus will begin to flower sometime in Mid Summer.
