Italicum Arum Out of Stock

Arum italicum is a year-round plant which is at its best in winter and early spring when the arrowshaped leaves are very striking. They create dream-like atmospheres when combined with early flowering white narcissi. The whitish inconspicuous blooms are followed by brightly orange coloured berries in autumn.

Special Features

Evergreen groundcover for under trees and shrubs. Tuber horizontal. Beautiful, large, shiny leaves appearing in autumn or early winter, sometimes veined with white. After the flowering orange berries will appear.

Features of Species or Group:

Native to Italy spreading westward into southern France and Spain. Now found throughout much of the south and west of Europe growing in hedges and rocky places. The leaves appear in the fall of the year followed by the flowers in spring. The Arum italicum has beautiful foliage with white markings.

Features of Genus:

The Arum is a plant that blooms between May and June. Later, however, its stalk produces attractive, bright red fruits. The Arum has beautiful, large and shining leaves. The genus is comprised of 12 species, all from Europe and around the Mediteranean.

How to Plant Specialty Bulbs?

To plant Specialty Bulbs the bulbs should be planted with the nose of the bulb upward (or the roots facing downwards) and the Italicum Arum should be planted roughly 3" deep and 6" apart from one another.

Note: For some bulbs you may not be able to tell which way is up or down, in these cases just plant them on their side and they will adjust on their own.

When to Plant Italicum Arum?

Specialty Bulbs are normally planted Mid Spring, and most Italicum Arum will begin to flower sometime in Early Summer.
