The blooms of the Ranunculus look like large buttercups. Thanks to their uncomplicated appearance they combine well in any garden setting. In a cottage garden you can get away with combining all the mixed colors of Ranunculus and create a romantic ocean of color and texture with yellow, red, pink, orange and creams.
***These bulbs need 6-8 weeks of cool* weather to sprout. If too warm, they will not sprout and remain dormant.
*Evenings at 40-50° with Daytime at 60-75°.
Bloom Time: Early Summer
Minimum for Effect: 25
Plant the woody, tuberous roots with the claws
pointing down in early spring. Soaking the tubers in
water for a few hours before planting gets them off to
a good start. They look exceptionally good in pots. Prefers warm sun all day and well drained soil.
Features of Species or Group:
This is the parent of most hybrids offered today. It
posseses the original beauty and versatility of the
flower. Flowering in May-June. The many petalled,
poppy like flowers are carried above attractive
foliage in the summer.
Features of Genus:
This popular cut flower is one of the most colorful of
all spring flowering bulbs. The Ranunculus can be
massed in blocks of single colors or mixed with
perennials in colorful borders. In warm climates they
can be left in the ground and then can bloom for
several years. These flowers are native to Asia Minor
and are commonly known to us as the Persian Buttercup.
How to Plant Specialty Bulbs?
To plant Specialty Bulbs the bulbs should be planted with the nose of the bulb upward (or the roots facing downwards) and the Mixed Colors Ranunculus Buttercup should be planted roughly 2-3" deep and 4-6" apart from one another.
Note: For some bulbs you may not be able to tell which way is up or down, in these cases just plant them on their side and they will adjust on their own.
When to Plant Mixed Colors Ranunculus Buttercup?
Specialty Bulbs are normally planted SPRING, and most Mixed Colors Ranunculus Buttercup will begin to flower sometime in Early Summer.
