Tulip Growing Advice

Plant in full sun to partial shade
Tulips need cold temperatures in order to produce a bloom, and are best suited in climates that have 12-16 weeks of consistently cold temps (below 50 degrees) during the day.
Drainage is essential to the survival of tulips. Plant in garden beds that have been amended with organic matter if your soil does not drain well.
To encourage the possibility of blooms for the next season, keep the leaves intact until they have yellowed, withered and can easily be removed from the soil.
Fertilize tulips in fall at planting with a slow release granular fertilizer. When leaves emerge in Spring you may fertilize your tulips again with the same slow release granular fertilizer.

I bought two packages of these tulips in 2019 for my daughter's wedding in late April. They were absolutely stunning! I planted them along the edge of my flower bed and they were breathtakingly beautiful and long lasting. The day of the wedding we cut all of them and submerged them in a glass vases with water (anchored them with small marbles) and had floating candles on top. These exceeded my expectations both in my garden as as a cut flower. I am buying more to give to my daughter so she can plant them in her yard as her anniversary flower.
