Pros:
  • Perennial
  • Tall
  • Late spring
  • Long lasting blooms
  • Stands up to wind
Cons:
  • None!
I love the stature of this plant. It has slender grassy foliage that stands up to our windy area. It blooms in my perennial garden when the garden is almost bare. Plant it with alliums for a show stopper. Returns in my zone 6 garden.

Glowing blue mass of mid to late spring beauty

Rating:

Pros:
  • Sturdy strong stems
  • Beautiful blue color
  • Mid to late spring
  • Very good value
Cons:
  • None
Planted 50 of these 12/2/2024 (Zone 8b) together. They began blooming amidst the California poppies in addition to the while yellow iris and allium behind them. This made a spectacular pallet of color, to replace the tulips that had died back. I will be ordering more for this fall to put in a few other places in my gardens. The stems were so sturdy and remained upright in the wind and rain of our micro climates in Portland. The flowers lasted more than a month.
