When to plant Lily bulbs?
Plant lily bulbs in fall when the daytime temperatures have cooled to the 60’s or lower during the day.
How to plant Lily bulbs?
Lily bulbs have a pointed end which should be planted facing up. Dig 6-8” deep and plant in well-drained soil, place the bulb in the hole and fill the hole back in with soil to cover the bulb. If any growth sprouts are visible on the bulb at the time of planting they should be covered with soil when filling the planting hole back in.
Where to plant lily bulbs?
Oriental Lilies, Asiatic Lilies and Orienpet Lilies grow 2-4’ tall depending on variety. Therefore, they are best planted in the middle to back of the planting bed. Lilies grow best in full sun, although in warmer climates part sun is helpful. The soil should be well drained for best growth results. Lilies are hardy in zones 4-9.
Bought 20 of these, Glad I did they are just coming out of the ground and look good.
Received these around Thanksgiving and some were massive, size of my palm. Planted right away. It’s now April, been swinging between 14-60 degrees with snow sprinkled in and a few are already over 6” tall and wide! :0 Made an impulse decision to buy another pack of 10 from a big box home retail store, the bulbs were slightly dried out and about 1/3 of the size of these. Waiting for these to sprout. Overall, I’ll definitely buy more in the fall to expand my flower garden as I’m at max now. Looking forward to the large lush blooms this summer!! Thanks again!!
Pleasantly surprised! I was a little skeptical planting these in late winter. I figured they wouldn't bloom until next year. Well, they bloomed and right next to the ones I planted in October and they were just as lovely! I will need to order more next year.
These bulbs looked plump and ready to go in the ground. Very excited to see these ladies come springtime.
Just beautiful
