Cleopatra Foxtail Lily is one of the most popular and well-known varieties of foxtail lilies. Glowing orange blooms have a hint of rosy salmon in the small petals that are in the tall spikes of blooms. Foxtail lily do best when planted in full sun, and require very well draining soil to grow.

Plant in a sunny location with soil that drains well. Foxtail Lily prefer sandy soil, if your soil is on the heavy side you will need to add organic matter to loosen it up. The dormant roots of Foxtail Lilies are large, and sprawling, often 6-8"+ in diameter. When preparing the planting location dig out the area 12" or more to allow for adequate space for the roots to grow and spread. The planting hole does should be shallow, planting only approximately 2" deep. In cold climates such as hardiness zone 5 and 6 be sure to add mulch for winter protection.

I received a VERY SMALL root compared to those pictured above... But that is not as important as how it grows!

It's planted in the ground in a soil mix 70% ground dirt (Sandy loam with last year's pear moss, and compost mixed in) 20% organic compost and 10% mushroom compost.

Spring should bring great blooms and growth!
