Large canary yellow blooms appear on sturdy stems of the Bartzella Double Peony. Itoh hybrid peonies are known to tolerate windy, rainy spring conditions better than traditional herbaceous peonies. Bartzella will begin blooming in late spring and in the right conditions can keep its blooms for up to 6 weeks! Fragrant, showy cut flowers are another bonus to this perennial favorite.

* Please note: Due to the life cycle of this item it is harvested in late summer by our suppliers and do not arrive to us from Holland until early to mid-October. Therefore, all orders containing this item will begin shipping in mid to late October, according to the hardiness zone.

Peonies like a full to part sun location
Plant 1-2" deep
Dig your planting hole 6-12" wide to allow for root growth.
Once established peonies do not like to be moved, so be sure they are in a location that they can stay in for a while.

They leafed the first year, gave me a bloom each plant in the second year. In the 3rd year, the entire plant is fully loaded with 5-6 inch breath-taking yellow blooms.

Interesting Experience

several eyes on the tube

I initially planted this tube in the ground and forgot I had planted it there. I accidentally dig it up after a couple of weeks in the ground. Then I decided to plant it in a container. That was sometime in December. It has grown several inches tall above the ground since then. Today is Jan. 29th, 2022 as i am writing this review. I cannot wait to see how it performs when it is time for its bloom. So far so good.

These are sold as bare roots but take off quickly and grow to the listed height. No blooms yet but very happy with the quality.
